NGC 2903 In Leo was created by DaveGrennan
Monday night was a pretty decent night here so I managed to get a full image in.

NGC 2903 is definitely one of my favs. One I never really had much luck with before. Thanks to Gary Clarke for a loan of his ST8 which was used for this image. Other details on the image page.

(dont forget to click on the image for full size.)

Hi Dave, a lovely shot caturing the glowing HII regions, also the very faint spiral arms, anybody's wallapaper for the week if you don't mind :)

Just a quick question, if the C14 is at f5.5, would'nt that be a very wide field of view? Is the shot a crop? maybe i'm wrong??

Keith.

Hi Keith,

Even at f5.5 the effective focal length is still almost 2000mm giving a FOV of 23.7' x 15.8'. There was a little cropping just at the edges. I have an Optec NextGen 0.5x reducer thanks to Mike for a heads up on one for sale on the cheap. This almost flattens the entire field of the ST8 but not quite so the very corners need to be cropped. Even at f5.5 the C14 gives a very large image scale.

Dave.

Impressive image Dave, well done. Your link doesn't specify the duration of the shot though...
