4 planets in one night. was created by Frank Ryan
Another clear night here in Shannon so out went the Scope...
Before that...
I caught Venus and Mercury above the Caherconnell Ring Fort in the Burren
on Sunday night..

Mercury.
Tough planet to inage!
I've never resolved it better than a rough blob before.
It'll have a nice crescent phase for the next few evenings as it swings by in front of the Sun.
Venus.
With it's blanket reflective clouds of sulphuric acid you
can't miss it right now in the West after sunset.
I must get some filters to try and tease out cloud detail.
Mars.
Although past it's prime viewing it's still respectable in
larger scopes. Lots of detail visually last night.
Dark and albedo features were clear along with the
bright white polar cap and some clouds.
Saturn.
Well, the rings are still face on...
Roll on October when the'll start to open out again.

Hi Ronan.
Was using the clubs 10'' SCT
and a Phillips webcam.
The IR filer has a crack in it but it seems not
to be distorting the images too much.

Fair play Frank, I actually like Mercury the best, the hardest of them all to image!
