M51 with C14 test image was created by carlobeirnes
Hi all,

I had a chance to get out imaging for first time in a long time. So I got to test the AP1200 mount properly and here is the result of 60 x 2min exposures unguided with C14@3910mm focal length binning was 2x2 camera was Atik 4meg @-20deg.
This was my first time imaging at such a high focal length getting the focus right was a challenge the image was processed in images plus and Photoshop CS3 Darks was 30 x 2mins flats was 35000adu

@-20deg?

Is that 20C below ambient or is that -20C?
Sorry to be pedantic.

None the less, I like the capture - also its a wonderful target.

Mark

Excellent image there Carl with finer structures now visible in M51 and NGC5195 and well framed. Like Mark I have a technical question regarding if you captured the images unfiltered or filtered.
I would also recommend that you get your hands on an Optec TCF unit for taking care of focusing during imaging runs through the night especially when using longer focal lengths. I am sure your going to have lots of fun with the AP1200 and I am looking forward to additional images.
