My last Nikon Image. M31 was created by johnny5
So I just bought (and successfully modded) a canon 1000D and only for the full moon I would be posting a picture from that. Instead I thought I would post the image I done with the Nikon D70. It's heavily processed and was taken when the moon was at about 75%
It was at ISO800 and 15 x 2mins unguided through a 70mm APO.

Fab image there Johnny, it's got a sense of depth (3D-ness?) to it. Love the colours but maybe there's just a tad too much blue?

Very good attempt there Johnny, that's good tracking too for 2 minutes, and even at 75% moon phase, it shows up well, especially the core. I think also it is a bit too blue, but a lot of M31 shots look that way.

This was the original process I done and as you can see there is just too much noise.

I think I lost a lot of color trying to get rid of the noise and was left with mostly blue. Im happy with the result and look forward to trying again with the Canon.

Ok Johnny, how about this? I've just processed your original shot with
1. Hot pixels - a free program from www.mediachance.com/digicam/hotpixels.htm
which elimates a lot of that noise
2. Noiseware - again freeware
noiseware-community-edition.en.softonic.com/
which cleans it up a little further What do you think??
