Jupiter 10th October was created by jimmy2010
hi all, managed to capture IO transiting jupiter lastnight with the same setup, captured RGB images between 22.28 - 22.30BST for the final combined result. seeing was not stable enough and the final image is a bit dull but some details can be seen. still a very good result on a night that i didn't expect much at all! 1600 frames per channel, 30fps. registax5 and paintshop pro used to get this resulting image.

seeing is not as good tonight i have to report, waiting to see if it settles down later! if not then zzzzzz :side:

Nice image given the conditions. Seeing was pretty poor last night and even tonight.

Is Io in the image or just its shadow? Hard to tell...

Fog came rolling into Celbridge about an hour ago - and it was looking so promising. So I guess the seeing didn't matter anyhow :(

hi dave,

IO's pinkish small disk is just to the lower right of the shadow. maybe with jupiter's white cloud tops in the background it hard to pick out IO it's self. IO was transiting infront of jupiter at that time for sure! it sure was hard not to miss its shadow!;)

its clear here, perfect for deepsky. stars are twinkling like crazy! sign of real bad seeing!

oh well! their will be another time!

James.

The shadow is very clear for sure. I just wasn't certain if the "object" to the lower right was Io or another comet impact :P Now THAT would have been a capture :)

There'll always be another time...

Now that is a real serious image there James!!!
If you could increase the brightness, it would be A1.
The moon+shadow and general detail there is very good!!
