Chromaric aberration - how to remove was created by michaeloconnell
Further to recent posts here regarding chromatic aberration in the 18-55mm lens on the 300d, I came across the link below. It's definetly well worth reading and seems very effective. I'll give it a try on the next clear night.

Ummm, not so sure. Looks more like art rather than science.

I don't think there is that much chromatic aberation in the basic lens. Maybe some spherical aberation in the long focal length EF lenses. My 200mm EF is quite poor on the fringes but in the middle of the image it's fine.

And no EF lens matches the quality of the scope as a lens at prime focus.

As in all astrophotography it's a matter of artistic choice and interpretation. From webcam to Hubble all astrophotos are false colour interpretations to one degree or another.

I'm with James on this. I just worry a little where the astrophoto ends and the artwork begins. I love to see natural photos. This looks a bit too cartoonish for me. Great article tho. Definitely worth a go.

what light pollution?. nothing in ireland can compare to living in dublin and having the southern aspect of your house overlooking the centre of the city.

Don't forget Stephen, a (so-called) wise man recently said, you only have to travel 10 miles away to get clear skies! Now, seeing the lights of Dublin to the east at Enfield, which is about 25 miles, I hope you have better luck with your 10!
