M106 (and friends) was created by DaveGrennan
Hi Guys,

With the science work, I don't get to take many images nowadays. Always another asteroid etc to work on, however Carl loaned me his lovely WO 110 FLT and Atik 4000 so I decided it was time to make use of them. Here's an image from Sunday night. Messier 106. I do like this galaxy but never got to shoot it before.

Details:
LRGB 120:60:60:60 L Binning 1, RGB Binning 2
Processed Images Plus v3.5 and Photoshop CS2.
Equipment, William Optics 110 FLT APO, Atik 4000, AP1200 mount, Astronomik LRGB filters.

Lovely Dave, I love the 'depth' of the shot with those faint fuzzies in the background, especially the very small two merging ones at bottom right. Top class as always

Missed this.

Excellent image Dave - nicely framed, tight focus and very finely detailed even with some serious zooming in.

One thing I see is that a lot of the smaller stars seem to have a green/blue caste - that could be my monitor in fairness and the fact I normally only look at reversed monochrome images :-) Could there be room for additional tweaking I wonder?

Overall though, that must be one of the best images submitted here.

Dave

Oh wait, just saw the footy scores. Rubbish image and I'm off to type a stern email to Gareth asking him to strip you of your obs code. Slacker.

Hi Dave,

What a great image welcome to the dark side again. Looking at the image it has great detail, color balance is spot on. Love the amount of background galaxies great depth of field. You did very well with the processing looking forward to your next run of images.
