Nice capture lots of detail, well done, if you don’t mind me
asking what version is that dbk camera as I’m thinking of upgrading from
a Philips webcam to something more suitably for the planetary imaging.

Hello Tony and thank you for the reply.
The camera I use is the IS DBK21AU618.AS OSC. This camera has the Sony 618 chip which is much more sensitive, particularly in the red channel than previous versions of the DBK, it can capture avi`s at up to 60fps in y800 raw mode codec (mono capture to be debayered later during processing) or up to 30fps at yuy2 codec (colour capture).
The camera comes complete with 1.25 nosepiece, USB cable and IC capture software on cd.
If you decide to opt for this camera may I suggest the DBK21AU618.AS USB version without an IR/UV filter and purchase a separate IR/UV filter; this will give you the freedom to fit whichever filter you choose.
The above image does not adequately demonstrate the full potential of this camera. Therefore I am posting another image captured by me a couple of weeks ago in better seeing conditions.
Below image reduced to 80% to fit.
Hope this helps.
All the best.

Wow that’s a smashing image.
Thanks for such a detail post regarding camera, clears up
a lot of issues I may have had.
If I ever do take the plunge it will be a OSC, I know the
mono version is way more sensitive but fitters, filter wheel
and the extra cost, just not for me at this time.
Thanks again
