Hi All

Here's my first ever 100% Narrowband image in Hubble Palette, I need to get "A LOT" more data, especially in SII, but here's my work in progress, this was done over three nights (Yep three clear nights...well at least part of the night)

Object: NGC7635 - Bubble Nebula - Narrowband Hubble Palette
Location: Cassiopeia (RA= 23h 20m 48.3, Dec= +61° 12′ 06)

Image Details:
RGB Data:
7nm HA Data (Green Channel): 6x1800S, 23 Darks, 23 Flats, 23 BIAS
7nm OIII Data (Blue Channel): 5x1800S, 23 Darks, 23 Flats, 23 BIAS
7nm SII Data (Red Channel): 4x1800S, 23 Darks, 23 Flats, 23 BIAS

Imaging Scope: Astro-Tech AT8RC / Celestron C80ED
Imaging Camera: ATIK 383L+ Mono CCD Cooled to -25C

Very nice Simon.

If you take darks at the same temperature as your light frames and for the same duration, you don't need bias frames. That's the beauty of a cooled and regulated CCD! Still quite a few hot pixels in there...

Lovely image though and one where the additional data will keep improving it. Fingers crossed for another consecutive three-nighter...

Thanks Dave

One good thing about narrowband is that you can get away with imaging even though there maybe a light high altitude cloud covering, fingers crossed skies here are clearish already :)

Since it went cloudy last night, I did a small amount of new darks and cleaned up those "Pixels", didn't realise that my darks from only a few months ago would be irrelevant so quick especially since it is cooled

Dave, quick question for you regarding flats. What do you use for flats, I am having issues trying to get the exposure time down far enough to get the flats, how are you acquiring flats with your CCD?

Hi Simon,

Great results I love the amount of detail in the image. Narrowband imaging is something I would love to try; but with the lack of clear skies in Ireland I was thinking I would never get an image finished. Have a look at the YouTube video Don Goldman made regarding narrowband imaging some very interesting techniques in the video.

Clear Skies,

Carl.
