Goodbye Summer. was created by pmgisme
The acceleration into the darkness has begun.
We wont recognise the days in just a month's time.

As we approach the Autumnal Equinox the days start to shorten at an ever accelerating rate.

The daylight length on the day before and the day after the Equinox itself differ the most, as we plunge towards the Winter Darkness.
It's approximately like a Sine Curve plunging through the zero amplitude point at 180 degrees.
(Approximate because the Earth's orbit is an Ellipse.).

"Bye Bye Sunshine"........"Hello Starlight".

Or..... in Ireland's case....."Hello More Rain Clouds" !

For those of us interested in collecting photons on CCD chips, this is music to our ears. Longer nights translate to great photon collection ... yes, bring on old man winter and please do it fast! :D

I had to do a school debs this morning (when I say 'morning', I mean leaving the house at 1am and got back at 5am!), and the skies were so reminiscent of an evening in early November! On the way home, the Summer and (Keiths) Winter Triangles were each almost in full view - the bottom tips of each were missing at the horizon. And with The Peaides riding high? It sure was, to me, looking like summer is over alright!

Beautiful clear Moon-lit skies last night/this morning, not a cloud in sight.
