16 PUP...? was created by Tonybwf
Hi all,
im just in from some short viewing due to cloud cover :x i saw a star an pointed my sky-scout @ it it read back as
star:16pup
constellation:puppis
Sao:153890
distance:472.70 light years
As i was in my estate the scout was picking up alot of magnetic interferience therefore accuracy suffers..my problem is the star was so bright i thought myself it was sirius..can anyone shed some light on the star i picked up??

Hi Tony
if it was very bright and under Orion to the Left (facing South), it certainly sounds like Sirius..

Well steve,
yea thats what i thought myself because yea it was under and left to orion an i hava good idea of the main stars names and for the magnitude 16pup seemed wrong to me i was expecting sirius even the blue/green colour aswell.....the magnetic interferience must have effected the scout

Pupis 16 is somewhat bright (Mag 4.4). It's straight south of Procyon, and nearly due E of Sirius.
Then again, that low to the horizon, if you have any light pollution at all Pup 16 probably wouldn't even be visible naked-eye.
