Help with mount was created by olympusstar
Hi all,
I'm new to the forum and astronomy. I just bought a used meade lxd75 goto and there seems to be a bit of play on mount around the worm gear Assembly. Is there a place where I can get the mount serviced ?
Thanks
Gary

Hi Gary
Welcome to IFAS and to astronomy in general.
The LXD75 is an older Meade mount, I don't want to sound too pessimistic but I'm unsure if they will still service it. Many of us (I own one) use online documentation to service our mounts - assuming there is not some serious issue. Given you seem to be looking for an 'official' service the only thing I can suggest is to take a look at Meade's local dealer list:
www.meade.com/dealerlocator/#
* I don't think there's an Irish Meade site.

Hi There,
If you want you can pop the scope into us. I can have our engineer to have a look at it for you; the meshing in the gears could need adjusting if so it will be a very quick fix.
Carl.

Hi Carl ,
Thanks I really appreciate that. Would you mind if I dropped in on Friday morning and would you mind if I stayed and watch so I would know how to do it myself next time ?
Thanks so much,
Gary

good thing you didn't bother with Meade customer service,
From what I hear, you'd have to ship the mount to their factory in Mexico to have it fixed.
Is that one of the lidl scopes from a few years ago ?, if so then you were one of the lucky ones, I've heard of them blowing up straight out of the box new.
