I'm hooked was created by smahon
Hi everyone,
I'm brand new to this, so please indulge me...
I finally got my Bresser skylux (bought before christmas in you-know-where) outside on a clear night. I found a bright spot in the sky where I thought saturn should be, popped the 12mm lense into the skylux and started to turn the focus knob. The white blur slowly got sharper and sharper until I saw what I consider the most amazing thing I have seen in my 36 years so far. Another planet! Saturn!
I then put the 4mm lense in and to my surprise, the image was just as sharp (albeit a little darker).
My wife was then dragged from her comfortable viewing spot in front of the tv, to be shown this wonderful sight.
Now, I know this is only the tip of the iceberg, but I think I have been truly bitten by the bug.
I look forward to learning from you all in the future.
regards,
Stephen

Welcome aboard Stephen! It is amazing just how baiting the Skylux has been for so many amateurs in the last couple of years. I have bought 2 in the last 4, and I think it is the best cheap-scope ever!
Seanie.
You're on the right track! My wife was then dragged from her comfortable viewing spot in front of the tv, to be shown this wonderful sight.

I have some very bad news for you ... the addiction is so bad that nothing will cure it!
Before you know it, you will be spending time marvelling at the sky under obscene weather conditions .... holidays will take on a special meaning .... you will learn how to use a sling-shot late at night with bright lamps for target practice .... you will schedule your life around new moon .... on and on and on ...
Welcome to the wonderful world of astronomy!!!

Programming today is a race between software engineers striving to build bigger and better programs, and the universe trying to produce bigger and better idiots. So far, the universe is winning.
