observing on windy nights was created by fguihen
is it worth observing on windy nights like tonight? I was thinking about it, but not sure if its worth lugging all my gear downstairs and setting it up only to find everything is swaying due to the wind ( my setup that is). generally, is it better to wait for calm nights?

Nah! Unless there's something special on, it's very windy here too, this is one of what I call a handheld binocular night at best, anything more and the scope will vibrate all over the place!

Unless you can get behind a wall ot trees....

Get a widefield pair of binoculars for the windy nights, carry them outside , have a look for a few minutes, and go in to bed :P

Easy Peasy !! 10x50's will do nicely!

That's what I do, and now i'm going to bed too! The bad man at work is coming to get me tomorrow again

Get that scope out SLACKER!!! You are a disgrace to the uniform SkyWatcher Guihen! Real astronomers use giant fans to make it windy on calm nights!!!

Go to bed and dream of clear still frosty nights!

Regards and Clear Skies,

Dave.
