targets for june- july was created by Maygrey
Hi all,
Anyone got any suggestions for easy imaging targets for these few weeks... I've been off the boil for couple of weeks (work and stuff!!)..
When i say easy, im thinkin Orion or Whirlpool etc... Is the crab nebula worth a try?? Something bright maybe mag 8 or 9?? Any interesting galaxies or nebulas about the angular size of whirlpool..or a bit bigger.. (this size suits my setup perfectly)
Thanks folks,
Kevin

Hi Kevin,
The biggies for the summer are the ring and dumbbell nebulae, M57 and M27. They're relatively bright and easy to find.
M13 is also still there and is very impressive in bigger scopes.

Kevin, the Crab is long gone from the skies, thats one for winter/spring.
I strongly suggest you get a desktop planetarium like cartes du ciel (free). That way you can see whats about every clear night.

Plan your session in advance to get the most out of those precious few clear nights.

Agreed.
You need to get a prog. that will hlp you decide whats worth
observing / imaging.
Stellarium is also a good free prog.
The various astro mags out there and websites give monthly
guides as to whats on offer.
Neill Mc Keowen often posts up a monthly guide here also worth keeping an eye out for.
The ring nebula is also one you might like to try for.
It's not exactly big and bright but it's well within your capabilities
from the last time we talked.
How are you getting on with photoshop and stacking the images?
I know only the basics when it comes to deep sky AP.
Gremlin here is your man.
I'd be pickin' his brains if I were you.
What is you set up these days?

I have planetarium programme.. very good but does not really tell you wat is good or bad for viewing etc.. and i like to plan ahead.. All your suggestions great help (as usual).
To Frank.. I got "images plus" programme for stacking and it is mighty.. HUGE difference.. brings out massive detail... now all i have to do is actually capture some massive datail  ... Im finding it very difficult to get enough time to have a good long session... ah well, at least my social life is busy!!
