Hi all, a bright nova eruption has bee discovered in Sagittarius at magnitude 6. It has now just been observed having risen to magnitude 5.3
It is located within the 'teapot'

Will it rise further.....?

Thanks for the heads up Keith,
don't know how easy it would be to catch Sagittarius in March though

Got a photo this morning, really awkward location for me so no tracking or anything. Bright in binoculars at around mag 4.5 and would be naked-eye only for the low altitude -

Fair play to you Fermidox for getting up early, Sagittarius is not easy at this time if year, the good news is yes you are right, this nova continues to brighten now reported up to magnitude 4.0. If we're not so early in the morning, this one would be grabbing some headlines.
Another nova had now been reported in Sagitta at magnitude 8.5

I got notification of this from an astronomy society in the southern hemisphere before it was later confirmed by LJMU- it looks like it was found with a DSLR rather than a CCD?
