Hello everyone.
I found the comet again tonight Sunday 5th February.
I used 40x and 112x on it.
It was very near Capella alright.
But there was bad dew in the air.
Plus because the comet and the brightest star in Auriga were getting higher and higher I found that my focusing knobs of the refractor were colliding with my Berlebach planet mount.
I just couldn't keep the scope on the comet at all. Lesson learnt!
Turning the legs will solve that problem.
But I will try to observe the comet again later in the week.
The Full Moon was extremely bright of course tonight.
Clear skies from Aubrey.

Hello everyone,
Delighted to read several of us have bagged this once in a lifetime comet.
As you've said Aubrey it is very high inthe sky tonight. Despite having the Dob it was tough to locate in the finder scope. But armed with a map (thanks for the suggestion) I did find it and observed it for approximately 45minutes tonight. Averted vision enhanced the view of C/2022 E3 (ZTF), but no colour was detected.
Having found the comet I called my wife to have a look at it, but she was more impressed with the constellation of Orion : ) Shortly after she went back inside, I completed a quick sketch at the eyepiece. I used a 2B pencil, and sketched the comet at 32X - pushing the magnifiaction didn't help. Here's the sketch - hope you like it!
Clear skies,
Darren.

Magnificent sketch of our comet, Darren!!
You might email it to me privately for the next issue of Orbit - if you wish to.
And if so, I wonder if you could give a designation of the brightest star which you have positioned at 5 o'clock. I can do the rest.
Very best regards from Aubrey.

Hi Aubrey,
Very many thanks for your kind words, and for inviting me to submit the sketch for Orbit. I'll email it to you this evening, and I'll inculde the name of the that star too.
Clear skies,
Darren.
