Non-observation from me this evening Oct 11. Although there was an irritating bank of cloud for most of the session, beneath that was clear to the horizon. Setting an hour after the Sun, if it is negative magnitude I should have seen it.

Saw it! 1836UT Oct 12; the day of closest approach to Earth at 44m miles. 16 degrees from Sun. To be visible in twilight and wispy cloud was quite impressive actually, I'd estimate maybe mag -0.5. Nebulous coma and glow of tail quite obvious in 20x80 binos.

Clear skies,
Finbarr.

Hello Fermidox.
Many congratulations on observing yet another comet!
C/2023A3 Tsuchinshan-Atlas must have seriously tough to image.
Your 20X80 binoculars sure do the business.
I would say that the comet is belting along at a fair speed.
Thank you for your image, Finbarr.
Maybe the next "snowball" will be brighter.

Clear skies from Aubrey.

Imaged this evening Oct 16 at 1900UT, not ideal conditions, but at least the full moon was behind a cloud bank. Unukalhai, Alpha Serpentis, is mag 2.6 and marked U. Globular cluster M5 faintly visible, arrowed. Single shot, 13 sec, 55mm DSLR.
