Total Solar Eclipse 2008 - Russia

Gents,

I checked further and the average of 18 months is in relation to total solar eclipses. As for solar eclipses in general (annular, hybrid, total), we do indeed have at least two such opportunities annually.

As an aside, 2011 will be characterized with four partial eclipses as per SkyMap Pro V8. Cool!

I'm not going to argue over 18 months or 1 year, its something I had in my head and didn't look it up in detail, I'll let it to a questioning reader of the paper to come back to us on that one. As for typos, we try and get them all but some do get through.
We wrote it in the same style as our shorter weekly article so its pitched so that anyone can read it.
If people come into the meeting next month saying they want to go to an eclispe next year, then its has done its job.

The article is a very pleasant read and certainly describes well all aspects of the experience (from getting there, the incessant worries about the weather and finally the big event itself).

Now, if the article does not inspire others to join you, I then give up.

I was wondering what would the weather have been like had the eclipse been 6 months later in mid winter instead,

We have a national emergency whenever the temperature falls below +10d C.

No money in the world would make me visit a place with -26d C ...
