The IFAS Astrophotography Competition was created by Seanie_Morris
Fellow Astronomers and IFAS Users,
A recent discussion by members of the IFAS Council has decided that now is a good time to start an Astrophotography Competition! This will allow those of you with any means of photocapture devices to flex your muscles, and show everyone what you can achieve!

There will be no prize (as yet), but the winner will be judged by an open voting system by members of these boards. That should be pleasing enough to know that your very own masterpiece has been judged to be the best of the best by your fellow friends and IFAS members.

Please read the Rules & Guidelines on the accompanying sticky to ensure everyone gets a fair chance, and that you understand how it is being organised.

Clear Skies & Good Luck!

Graet Idea!!!
What about shots taken previously? Can they be entered?

Or do we all start now with a clean slate??

Seanie,

This is a great idea. Personally I am slightly worried about the 100kb limit since I think it will lead to a lot of unintentional artifacts and which will be compounded even further by the 800x600 file size limit.

I suggest bumping up the limit to perhaps 200kb. :?

Anthony,
I will check, but I think that it was stated in the Rules and Guidelines that larger files may be lnked to an off-site host, such as www.flickr.com (requires free registration) - that way, our bandwidth problems will be relatively small!

PS. I have locked this thread simply to not let it become cluttered! (intended to do this the time I posted it originally).

Please let us have your further feedback and suggestions here .

Seanie,
I went to post a couple of images into this month's competition under the topic

March Competition Theme -> The Moon & Eclipses

. However, the thread is locked.
Where should I post my entries?

You must have missed this bit of the rules ;-)

During the month, members can enter images to the Challenge by sending an email with a pointer to the image (please don't attach the image!)
to photo_competition@irishastronomy.org.
