Yep, I know we did this before, but this time I am hoping that if we get some good weather, that someone will try and capture some summertime galaxies! Your target for entry into July's competition will be on Galaxies Great & Small.

Closing Date: Tuesday July 31st.

Entries are to be sent to photo_competition@irishastronomy.org and should be hosted off-site, and linked to that provider. If in doubt regarding what to do, please read the Rules & Guidelines .

PLEASE make all images no larger than 800 X 800 pixels in size. Those that are larger will be requested to be made smaller, or failure to reply will result in omission from the competition.

Seanie,

You want a galaxy (geat or small) set against a landscape? I would be interested to see how many entries you do get!

One thing to identify a geat galaxy ( :P ) and something else to get it against a landscape?!

Oh yeah, one thing, previous entries from the last one (May 2006, see here ) are permitted, but not the winning entry!

Given that Seanie wants a landscape too please try to make your galaxy take up more than 1 pixel in the image

So do we need the whole galaxy or just a part of? And how much is a part? If I take a pi of a tree say, the tree is in the galaxy so does that count? OR do I need stars? In that case how many stars are required to be in the image?

I'm not usually able to get good shots of Galaxies against landscapes but
I think this one turned out great...
Watch out Dave Grennan!

You'd be doing well to get galaxy images in July, people are going to have to dig into their archives for this one.
