C11 SCT for sale was created by mykc
Due to restricted observing opportunities, I've decided to sell my Celestron C11 SCT (Starbright XLT coatings, but not Faststar). This a seriously large and heavy scope, with great light-gathering power. I bought it second (or third?) hand in 2012 and used it extensively until 2016, since when it has rarely been outside. It is fitted with a Celestron dovetail and I used it on a CG5 mount, which just about coped with the weight. Two 5 kg counterweights for a CG5/VX mount are included. It has a 2" Baader steeltrack dual-speed focuser, but I can sell it with a 2" Baader Clicklock eyepiece clamp and a standard 1.25" Celestron visual back. A Baader finder base is fitted, but the original Celestron 9x50 finder is also included. A Bahtinov focusing mask and a homemade (but effective) dewshield are also included.
The tube has some marks from long-term used, including some paint spatters that are only of cosmetic significance. However the original paintwork on the back is damaged in two places, near the focuser, as shown in one of the photos, and needs retouching. Optically, it seems absolutely fine, and it successfully resolves double stars with a separation of less than 1 arcsecond. However, the corrector plate is dusty and probably needs to be cleaned.

Two useful accessories are also available, a Celestron f/6.3 reducer/corrector for astrophotography, and a Televue 55 mm Plossl which is really useful as a 50X 'finder' eyepiece for this scope. The Televue has a ding on the top, but the optical quality is spot on. There is also a heavy due plastic box which provides secure storage for this large item, with room for accessories, which I imported specially for this task.

Prices are as follows:
C11 with finderscope, standard visual back, 2" Clicklock, counter weights, focusing mask and dewshield: €1300
C11 as above plus Baader dual-speed focuser: €1450
55mm Televue Plossl: €130
F/6.3 reducer/corrector (with bolt case): €70
Large, secure plastic box: €50
The whole shebang: €1500

Thanks for reading, feel free to ask any questions. I'm based in Dublin and am happy to show the scope to anyone who is interested.

I forgot to add that I am looking for a (semi)apo in the 110-130mm range as a replacement for the C11. If anyone with a scope of that type is interested in the C11, I'd be very interested in doing business with you.

Mike

I cleaned the corrector plate so it is now pristine. I'm much happier with a recently purchased 120mm refractor, the images are relatively "soft" in the SCT compared to the refractor, though, of course, the light gathering power of the SCT blows the 120mm scope away.

I'd like to move this on, so I will post on Adverts.ie, and prices are reduced as follows:
C11 with finderscope, standard visual back, 2" Clicklock, counter weights, focusing mask and dewshield: €1200
C11 as above plus Baader dual-speed focuser: €1300
Baader dual-speed focuser (fits almost any SCT) alone: €135
55mm Televue Plossl: €130
F/6.3 reducer/corrector (with bolt case): €70
Large, secure plastic box: €50
The whole shebang: €1400
