Seeing as I routinely almost kill myself at whatever I am currently doing, whether it is trying to ski and falling off the cliff, having to be saved by Canadians, or just falling into rivers off trees, I don't think the chance of the shuttle blowing up would deter me from getting a trip to the big above

That all sound sooo strangely familiar...
If you knew my track record with accidents you and I'd better
not ever enter the same room at the same time or we'll cause a rip
in the space time continuum.

That majority said they would go.

naaaa, call me yellow, and don't get me wrong, I would love to go into space BUT the shuttle is an old piece of technology. it's a roll of a dice as far as I am concerned. there you go sitting on a pile of 70's designed hardware with toggle swithes and valves with a pile of voilatile chemicals under your bum. I rhink I would rather stick feathers to my arms with hot bees wax and flap them........quickly. The shuttle is a hodge podge of ideas and designs. I think if NASA is serious about a replacement they should throw the floor open to private enterprise (join forces) and come up with something new - and hopefully a craft that has not has many detachable bits.
