Very many thanks Aubrey, John, Paul, Jeff, and Finbarr for detailing your observations. In the end, I was unable to make it out to Phoenix Park so I missed the event. Thanks to your reports though, I got a great sense of what it must have been like to watch the Transit of Mercury. Fingers crossed for 2032!

Well, Finbarr, they weren't quite "old dears" but I know what you mean!
By the way, we observed the transit for 2.5 hours. 
We needed hot soup after it all and Vitamin C.  

Those images from John O'Neill and you Finbarr are truly out if this world. (Pun intended!!)

One last thing, Finbarr, I need to ask. 
How the Dickens did you get the emoji?
They just won't appear for me.

I would have seen the entire transit today Aubrey but I'm not complaining with the half hour I did get yesterday. As for that emoji I just typed a colon followed by a capital D. I think quite a few of the functions of this website have gone away unfortunately.
