Hello,

Despite media reports (on RTE) to the contrary, you will not see (unless something extraordinary happens) 100 meteors per hour as soon as the sky gets dark.

Remember this 100 is the ZHR value of the peak. To achieve this value you would need a perfect clear and transparent sky, no light pollution, no moon, radiant at the zenith, observe at the peak, no areas of the sky blocked and the observer be fully alert.

The radiant reaches maximum altitude of 70 degrees just after 2am and the moon will have set by then. The Peak is predicted for 6 UT on the 14th when the radiant altitude is 45 degrees.

Enjoy & clear skies,

John

Hopefully the clouds will clear by early mornin.
100 per hour is a bit much alright, the ZHR is always
Way off what the average observation turns out to be,
though I'd estimate
from last years observation in the Burren a peak of around 60 or more PH.
Some show last year though no pics !
