Spotted it myself driving home after 02:20hrs. Very broad in length alright Ronan, one of the longest shimmers I have ever seen.

Hey Bart, most of the display took place behind the clouds, however here's frame from approx halfway through where you can see (I hope the display forming....
And here's one from towards the end where you can see the display through the remaining few gaps in the clouds....
More proof of concept than a display of lovely pictures!

It's a real pity about those clouds Paul.
It'd be nice to see them forming.
Jeez,
and I had my camera with me.
Ah well,
sometimes ya gotta just observe eh!?

Unluck with the clouds guy's, i had a clear view for
most of the night.I didn't notice them untill about 11.30
the above images were all taken about midnight. It's
the first time I've caught a NLC on camera and what
a display it was, so bright. They were all taken at the
mouth of the river Boyne,Mornington, Co Meath.
oh wise man why is the universe so perfect?ah because symmetry loves herself.

Those are excellent images Declan!
Real vivid colours.
I particularly like the use of the foreground in the second image - what is that building anyway?
You were fortuanate to have such clear skies.
