Must keep an eye out for unusual coloured sunsets due to the volcano.

Those 'waves' remind me of 'asmospheric gravity waves'
(not to be confused with 'gravitational waves'.)
or to give them the correct term 'undular bore'

I've seen some videos of these on the net and sometimes the way they
move reminds me of NLC's.
We had a NLC talk by Dave L at our last meeting and some of the
timelapse vids he showed really looked similar in ways.

Anyway...
