Celestron bought by 'Synta'???? was created by Keith g
Hi all, has anybody heard today that Celestron have today been bought by a company called Synta? Further to Dave Lillis' post last night, rumour has it this has now happened, will they still trade under the name 'celestron' or, will celestron disapppear? I hope the optics remain as good or maybe get better?
A lot of uncertainty ahead

Hey Kieth, you just beat me to it, I was just reading it on their website!
Just wondering if anything will change, perhaps they will do something about dealership restriction :

This is certainly very interesting. I'm sure ther is no way they will drop a name like celestron. The question I would have is what does this mean for the skywatcher and orion (US) scopes. WIll they just be rebadged and sold as celestron. Also what would this mean if you were a skywatcher dealer. Does this mean you now become a celestron dealer etc.
What I'm really interested in is what this will mean to the celestron range.

Just got a mail from Celestron re Synta takeover and it seems that the name will remain, the CEO & directors will remain and it will still be based in Torrance CA.
