Hi,
I'm new to astronomy but I was having a look at a starry night to see what will be in the skies over the next few months and I noticed that on the 25th of June at about 10.40, Venus, Mercury and Saturn will be really close to each other and was wondering if it would still be too bright at that time too see them and are they close enough to see at the same time through a telescope, it looks like Venus and mercury are very close so I think you could have decent magnification for those but I'm not sure about Saturn?, also, you would need a really clear view of the Horizon to the North West.

You can see Venus in broad daylight so you will definitely be albe to see that and if Mercury is so close by you should also easily catch it in a telescope.

Mind you if this all happens close to the sun then all bets are off.

The Sun will be below the horizon by then Keith. As is always the case with Mercury, we can't really see it when the sun is up, due to its close proximity from the sun, even at its furthest. Therefore, all 3 will be safe to view in June.

It does make for some great evenings' viewing!

Should prove to be a nice show, hopefully the weather will allow us a view.

Hi Keith, I've just checked that out on Redshift 4, at that time, the sun will only be about 4 degrees (less than a binocular field of view) under the horizon, so it will be still very bright, but you don't have to view on that night alone, a few days before and after should make a nice show, provided you view about 30mins after sundown, i'll put this one into my mobile as a reminder! :D
