Close Yahoo Group? was created by sdbell
I notice that there is virtually no posting being done to the Yahoo group, apart from spam (most of which I have fielded) and notifications of new website posts. The only person really using it is Terry, and I assume this is only to be sure that he is covering all the bases...
Since you have now overcome your age problems wrt registration in irishastronomy.org, Terry, I suggest that we shut the Yahoo group down. Since this message will automatically go there, any members still using it can opt to keep it running.

OK, I agree that its time has come but before it gets closed down I need ot edit the new message alerts so that they go to all members of these boards (who opt to recieve them) instead of to the old yahoo group. I'm not exactly sure how long that will take but I will try to get it done tomorrow evening.

Why not just leave Yahoo open? People looking for Irish astro and find Yahoo will make their way to the boards from there. Think of it as free advertising.
It's easy enough to unsubscribe personally from Yahoo of at least turn off emails.
I like the email alerts and it will be nice to get them without Yahoo spam.
Keep up the good work.

Someone will need to get Terrys AOL setup working with this board before closing it altogether...

i think that we should put the list to bed as soon as people are happy with the board. there is no real reason keeping the yahoo open. it would be better to concentrate everything on the ifas website. it will be much harder for the junk mailers and besides would it not make it better to concentrate on promoting ifas website/organization than have a bit on yahoo, a bit somewhere else etc.. maybe terry should bypass aol if it is causing him problems install something like mozilla . can't believe their software would not work with a wbesite so much for standards.
