There was a contest running earlier this year to guess the date (and time) when #1000 would be found. My estimate based on some quick number crunching was for Aug 12.7/2005 .... I am keeping my fingers crossed that I will be close.

I do not remember the prize(s) but it is a non-issue. I am happy to see that I should be in the general area as far as my estimate is concerned.

I think from memory I went for early September myselfas a guess and I think there was no September in the pattern of discovery of the SOHO comets.
