EXT 70 Lat Lon entry ? was created by DeirdreKelleghan
Hi, can anybody advise me? EXT70 scope, I have it sorted for Bray Lat 53.20 N and 6.10 W now I am going down to Waterville in Kerry soon and I was trying to enter the cordinates for that location 51.83 N and 10.16 W and it just keeps beeping and not accepting the figures. What am I doing wrong ?Any ideas ? its is suposed to be capable of storing 6 locations entered into the database. Lat/ Lon from heavans above.

I am begining to think that its only one site per country, and reset and add the other choice? Then reset when I return home?

Here my input based on similar experience setting home location on Cartes Ciel which I use for my mapping.
The 51.83 is a decimal I think which is 51 degrees 49 minutes and 48 seconds. If you are entering 51 and 82 and 00 then the system wont accept a figure over 60 ( degrees or seconds) which may be the problem. I have no experience with etx 70 software so this is just a guess.

Deirdre,
It's probably the same as the LX90, the easiest way is to add a site from the list and then edit it. choose the add site option and add Dublin to your site list. This saves you working through the time zone list. Once Dublin is in your site list, go to Site: edit, press enter Edit: Name appears, then press enter. scroll to Dublin, and edit it to what you want, then enter and when edit:name re-appears scroll down to Edit: lat, put in the lat press enter, scroll to Edit long, press enter, put in your long, press enter, then just hit enter for time zones etc as they are the same. then when you set up your scope just go to site set up and choose the site you want.
Hope that makes sense.
Bill.

Those co-ordinates are probably fine, but if you need more accuracy try:
www.maporama.com/share/
That give the coordinates in dd mm and dd.ddd formats.
Or alternativly if you know the Ordinance survey grid reference of your location you can use this to convert that to lat/long.

Yes on Maporama Waterville is indeed
Lat-Long:
51° 49' , -10° 10'
51.828 , -10.176 given as both degrees and decimal number, so 51° 49'
it is
Thanks Nosmo, Bill and Albert
