Unexpected Aurora! was created by martinastro
Aurora first spotted at 21.00LT very low in the north through light clouds and clear patches. The aurora was a very intense green band of light at a maximum height of 6 degrees above the northern horizon and 20 degrees long. This was VERY intense in colour but because of its low altitude it may have been missed by many with an obstructed horizon. By 22.00 it had gone completely.

Conor took several expsoures which captured it with ease. I know others maybe skeptical saying that this will be sodium lights in the clouds but it was not. Through good clear gaps the aurora was seen and besides we know our local are well so we feel 100% certain about the sighting. Conor took another expsoure of the sky in the same conditons which showed nothing after 22.00. It was a very nice unexpected suprise!!!

Conor should have the images up shortly. No beams where seen throughout the display!

Notice the two images of the same spot. Just to confirm to those who may question that light below!
