Hi Paul,
I tried an orange filter (number escapes me) and it took the glare off the martian image, it also seemed to make the darker areas stand out.
My scope has not thermally stable so it was far from picture perfect, but atleast we got to see it.

I used a Tak Sky 90 under the Leviathan Saturday night. Good clear disc, had difficulties seeing any detail, was still low down at about 30 degrees. It really needed a yellow filter to enhance detail because I found Mars to bright which washed any detail.
I have used on occasions a 23A. It enhanced features like the Syrtis Major considerably.
