bright shadows in google earth was created by albertw
Spotted a plan in google earth approaching dublin airport.
53°24'57.73"N
6°10'11.67"W

No big deal there. However its shadow is a lot brighter than the surrounding ground. I'm not sure if this is an atmospheric trick, or something to do with google earths rendering. But it looks strange.

Cheers,
~Al

ah... turns out to be an artifact of satellite imaging. With objects moving more than 100kmh you can get ghost images, which seems to be what this is.

Any satellite imaging experts around?

hmm... not sure about satellite imaging. But if you're looking for planes and helicopters on google earth, I found this page a couple of weeks ago;

Google Earth is really cool.

I took a tour of The Grand Canyon the other night.

I hiked down a bit of the Grand Canyon for a day recently. It was depressing to see how little ground we had actually covered in google earth!
