Shannonside Astronomy Club usually hold their meetings on the first Wednesday of every month, but at times like the New Year, this is always put back by a week. So the Club’s first meeting and AGM of 2004 was held on Wednesday the 14th of January.
Unfortunately the Chair and Secretary thought that the second Wednesday fell on the 7th, and duly turned up on this date.
Not only that, a couple of days later the Vice-chair phoned the Secretary to apologize for not being able to attend this none-event…
In view of this evidence of impending senile dementia, it was decided that it was high time for a putsch, so the tumbrels were rolled out and an election was forthwith held, the results of which were as follows;
Chair
David Lillis (who will also continue to act as Director of Observations)
Secretary
Tony O’Hanlon, who has effectively been doing this job for some time anyway.
Treasurer
As before, Michael Dee
Librarian
Again as before, Con Buckley.
Mike Murphy and myself will continue as before to contribute to the organizing of the Whirlpool.
The Vice-Chair position has yet to be decided.
Congratulations to all, and I know that the above will enjoy the same enthusiastic support as we, their predecessors, did.
