Do you know if Terry seen it with the naked eye or did he use binoculars for his independant discovery?
I have met Terry serveral times myself and he has an excellent knowledge of the sky.

It was discovered by naked eye observation. At the time, it was magnitude 6.

Damn, they have the best milkyway, best DSOs, the mag clouds and now a supernova.!
We have clouds, rain and a semi-barren northern hemisphere sky in comparrison, this is starting to suck, big time!
Its time we all move to australia.

I'd prefer La Palma myself! Warm all year round, and you get to see the best of both 'halves'!
