whats a "Specular refraction camera" ???

what exactly do you mean by "observing nature".??
This might sound obvious, but for wide angle images of relatively nearby subjects, you'd be better off with binoculars. This scope would be more better suited to looking at masts on hills and ships off the coast.....

BTW, forget that max magnification.

I think both the Meade ETX70 and the Skylux are both 70mm refractors so I'm not sure which one the poll refers to. Anyhow, both are optically very good. The Skylux doesn't have the advantage of GOTO though...

As for nature observing (wildlife etc) as Dave says, these are not wide-field but you'd get a great close-up of a fox a mile away...
Cheers
Dave

Mr. Burns ( ),
you won't be disappointed at all if you buy this scope. I used it for both nature observnig as well as astronomy. Once you get the hang of the slow motion controls (which will be quite soon, they're not that hard to master at all!), you'll find tracking distant birds, running foxes, airplanes and so on easy to track and watch. The price is not a lie of the scopes capabilities.

Gets my vote! Just don't go by the Lidl blurb. They're description beats Aldi's "Astrology Telescope" though

Dave, I reckon this poll is for the Skylux, not the ETX.

Focal length: 700mm
Objective diameter: 70mm

The Skylux is the only one with a 700mm focal length. The ETX is only 350mm. Anyway, after all the good reviews on the Skylux last year, I went out and picked one up myself yesterday morning.
Now, if I could only get the time to put it together.......... looks ok so far though. :D

P.S. The Lidl ads only mentioned two eyepieces, there are in fact three: 20mm, 12mm and a 4mm.
