Deirdre, I've mine insured with my home insurance, since I store it in my backyard, they had no problem itemising it as 'household property' :D

Hope this helps!
Keith..

Yep, home insurane is the way to go. Mine's covered this way. Talk to your home insurance broker about it. Often there's no extra charge, unless it's a very expensive telesope.

Hi ,
I've mine insured under "ALL risks" and this does cost more, it is under the house insurance. At the moment its 1 euro per 100 euro, so if the scope costs 4kE, it costs me 40e per year, worth it IMO.
I go with all risks as this means its insured no matter what happens (obviously within reason), great for out in the field or accidental damage etc.

Like the above, my scopes are covered as part of the house inurance policy. An extra bit of advice - make sure you have recorded details of it: make+model, receipts (if avaiable), and a photo or two. IF anything ever happened to it, these extra bits of information will help in the claims process, otherwise you are most likely to get 50% MAX of the value.

the insurance company wanted make and model number. I even had to show them a sky and telescope add to convince them it's for real
