Hi Dave....the audio files are data mode packet radio files, cant remember but think abt 1200 baud fsk
I spoke to Bill during the earlier contact but did not stay very long as he is in demand with the amateur fraternity and to be honest I was taken by surprise when he replied to my call, also my aerial is very directional and high gain unlike most others who use vertical omni-directionals so it would be more difficult to track, I will look in next few days, record and post Bill if I hear him.
I am just guessing but I think he uses a simple handheld radio and runs low power about 3 watts (check later)

Eugene, one of my astronomy friends called up yesterday to borrow a uniden/bearcat handheld scanner just before the 19.33 pass and I decided again on chance to call Bill on Voice, Bill NA1SS came back right away although he was outside my footprint by 30 seconds, we had a good chat, he spoke abt the view of earth on ISS using binoculars, again I forgot to record Bill but made a few recordings as he moved over western europe speaking to ham's in Spain and Italy

These recordings are short, I will try to call him again at 18.23 today, NA1SS was heard well on the small vhf handheld unit

(Nothing heard from Bill on this pass, will try again at 19.58...Charles)

Hello...........just wondering .......what do u use to listen on vhf.....

If you want to decode packet have a look here for winpack by G4IDE (English deceased 2004)
www.apritch.myby.co.uk/uiv32.htm
Then download AGW packet engine which allows you decode RX/TX without a special TNC (modem) by SV2AGW a Greek radio ham
www.elcom.gr/sv2agw/
Just connect to ur pc line in for rx

This works very well around 144.600 to 144.900 where you will find several packet nodes and also several ham radio satellites between 145.800 and 146mhz.....see here
pd0rkc.ontwikkel.nl/
Install winpack, run AGW and setup winpack option for AGW.....then some minor adjestments have to be made to the parmaters in agw..if u are stuck give me a shout and I will help you out.....
Forgot to mention most of this data as at a modest 1200baud
some of the faster data is 9600baud but I never tried this speed
Charles........Cork where it is wet and windy tonight

This weekend Bill will be operating on UHF only
Frequency 437.550 but due to doppler shift at start of pass listen 437.560 and when it close to south 437.550 and as it moves away to east 437.540
Had 3 contacts with Bill already, 2 on 145.800 the other on UHF yesterday.
