Catalina Sky Survey Hits Record High! was created by martinastro
Have just stumbled across this interesting article on the MPML. The folks at the CSS both in the northern and southern hemisphere have done a great job. If you are a person who is skeptical about the impact threat then take a look at there recent tally of NEO and PHA discoveries!

I emailed Steve Larson from the Catalina Sky Survey this afternoon requesting information on the threat of his survey to visual comet hunting from our location. He was kind enough to give me a swift reply...

Hi Martin-

None of the "big" surveys can cover ALL the sky ALL the time. Especially the more difficult near-sun
regions where you would have the best chance of picking up a new comet. You can get a good idea
about survey coverage from the MPC coverage maps. Still much sky within 40-60 degrees from the
sun that never gets searched and could be prime territory for you.

Good luck.

Cheers,

-Steve
