What surprises me most though is that Ireland has the ability to harness copious natural resources but the public has of yet to be fully sold on the idea. Luckily, there are folks out there developing wind and wave power and solar energy panels plus wood pellet systems (renewable resources) but they cost - and people refuse to pay. Worse, they actively disagree with wind turbines going up in their back yard.


cut their leccy for a week and they'd sing a different tune;).

I dont think solar power will work that well in this country, I think wind farms are the way to go, I dont understand why the government cant put these a few miles out in the atlantic, there is a constant wind on the west coast, its such a massive resourse and its a pity not to see it used.
I'd love to have a small turbine on the roof here, if it generated a good fraction of the power needed to run the house, would't that be great!, many modern turbines are very quiet.

Thank you all for expressing your views. I find this to have been a very interesting and informative exchange.

What is really important is to have heard you express your own position without needing a media spokesperson to interpret what you had to say.

but not a very frequent wind only about 50 days a year ;) and then it is mostly hot air.
