I'm betting it's closer to 18% occlusion, well, hoping anyway.
I'm bringing some gear into work on Wednesday, with the hope of getting to see something. Binos with filters, scope with filter, solar shades etc.
I'm with you on the wood touching - I'll be eating sawdust sandwiches for the next few days.

.... I'll just have to content my self with a look at an 8.5% nibble from the sun's disk ... if it's not bloody cloudy that is *touches LOTS of wood*
