Help Requested with Podcast was created by voyager
Hi all,

I'd like to request some help with the next issue of the IFAS Podcast (June 2006). I'm looking for two things from users:

1) Links to websites you use for Astronomy on a near daily basis .... i.e. the stuff you just couldn't observe without like www.heaven-above.com or good weather sites etc.

2) Volunteers to record a short piece on any topic of their choosing for the podcast. The previous three episodes have had pieces from Seanie and or Al so it would be nice to get some contributions from others.

3) Ideas for regular items on the podcast.

Cheers folks,

Bart.

Bart - I use this UK weather site for cloud forecasts for astronomy. Its OK, sometimes gets it wrong but not by much.

BTW - you can type in any County in Ireland and it works just fine - don;t let the postcode thingy put you off.

An idea Bart,
what about rolling out a desired array of topics to include in the coming months, and on a first-come, first-included basis, let people record what they want according to those topics?

As an example, topics for recording can include

* The Summer Triangle (an audio commentary of what to keep an eye out for, to accompany your star atlas)
* Observing The Sun (the Do's and Don't's of solar observing)
* Maintain your telescope - this month: a reflector
* Record your observations (you never know who could read them in future!)
* Club of the Month profile - this month: (choose club, according to suitable club rep)

and many more! Let there be guidelines, or een an FAQ section on these boards (soemthing going to be included in the new draft) for recording a piece, like time limits, quality, how to do it etc.

That's not a bad idea at all Seanie. I was thinking that perhaps the podcast should have a section to itself like the photocompetition so we can have sticky threads and so forth.

Bart - as another suggestion, perhap[s for 'later on', how's about some kind of interview? I'd have to say that I would find it hard to record an astronomy related monologue but if someone was asking me questions, I'd find that a lot easier.

Its just a thought.

Cheers
