Nice work Dave! I'll take the word of others before me that it is well written in A&S! (apart from the ommision of the 'extra' bits!)

I wonder how many plugs for scopes were in the article, if any?

The article they published was about 3 or 4 sentences taken out of a two page article I sent in. In fairness they summarised it very well. But perhaps used a little poetic licence when describing me as 'one of Ireland's most active amateurs' - I sit in my lovely warm study and drink coffee whilst letting the equipment do the rest...
Now, how do I get my royalties? Might buy me a Wratten number 7....

Sounds like the smart thing to do! If USB leads worked over longer distances and I had an electronic focuser I could sit in the kitchen at the laptop and drink coffee all night too. I've all the rest of the remote control stuff and imaging working nicely from the laptop.
Many congrats on the article - I'm sure at the rate your going we'll be hearing a lot more. When are S&T coming to do the write up on J65 ???

John - don't you mean 'Time'?
I'm fortunate enough to have a laptop out in the garden right by the scope. Its on a network so I just remotely control it with UltraVNC. Great!
I tried a wireless connection but that wasn't great. So I just chased an ethernet cable through the wall.
How about getting a very cheap second laptop? Or even a cheap PC and hook it up to the laptop by ethernet? Its well worth the effort - believe me.

if you got trouble with poor signal, try a linksys
Still, nothing beats good old cable when it comes to speed.
