James A. Van Allen was created by pmgisme
James A. Van Allen died yesterday age 91.
Van Allen made the first great discovery of the space age, with his instruments on the very first american spacecraft,Explorer 1.
The largest Earthly "object", the Van Allen radiation belt, is named after him.

The great poineers are beginning to fade away.

Indeed .... TBH I didn't realise he was still alive.
From what little I know of him it seems he was a great scientist and deserves to be honoured.
May he rest in peace
