On the face of it, I think RC optical have a point. It's very hard to see how the RCX could be called an RC. Unless you were expert in optics you would be inclined to take a large corporation like meade at their worth.
Either way its always a shame when it comes to 'pistols at dawn' like this.

S & T do make the point that it is hard to judge when a design is "New".
Patent offices, faced with new gadgets, confront this problem on a daily basis.
It makes Patent Lawers very rich indeed.
Issac Newton could rightly say that all of those designs are "just" variations of his own reflector.
The RC manufacturers are fighting for their very existance! It would be a shame if they went under.
