Here is another question for the cloudy nights.
How much stuff do you guys bring with you when heading to a dark site to do a nights observing.
I bring my
dob,
10X50's,
hard case with 20X80's,
tripod for 20X80's,
hard Case with eyepieces and 15X70's,
box of charts, references, lights, gloves, hats, winter clothing etc,
anybody else as bad or do I have it easy

Usually I travel light enough.
Manfrotto tripod
4"Mak + eyepieces etc.
warm stuff including tea! (and chips if I go through Eniskerry!)
10x50's
Starcharts
Very occasionally I'll bring the LXD55 mount (+powerpack etc.).
Even less often I'll bring the 10" SN. Though now its in a dob mount it might get more travel in the new year.

Pair of 10x50s, planisphere ... that is all.
Mind you that's mainly because I don't have a car and have to cycle to a dark site!
Bart.

Hmm... the weather hasn't been kind to us if we're scraping the bottom of the barrel like this! The next step is unrestrained, all-out cabin fever... and that's just plain ugly to witness!
20" f/4 Dob + 20" mirror carrying case + truss poles
3-step ladder / chair
Tool box for eyepieces / accessories - doubles as a 1-step ladder!
SkyAtlas 2000
Large folding picnin table
Picnic box with flasks, tea/coffee/soup/bikkies/Scooby-snacks and other goodies.
All-in-one thermal flying-suite (like a ski suite) - very cosy!
Two coats - one armless body warmer + feather&down overcoat.
Thinsulate beanie hat + scarf + gloves
Er... that's it... I think.
All fits in to the back of my Ford Escort and there's still room for a sandwich!
Phil.
PS - The above is also the reason I'm building an observatory in the garden!
