Better that old people should die of talk than to have young people die in war.

Televue Ranger or C5 spotter, an AltAz tripod and an eyepiece case. I don't 'bring' the binoculars, but they are always in the car if I want them.

Never bring 12" Dob further than back garden.
If traveling 18X50 Stabilizing Bino's, deckchair, starmap & red torch.

You can lead a horse to water but a pencil must be lead

This is what I put in the boot.
152mm Refractor,
CG5 mount
Powerpack for mount
Eyepiece case
Star Diagonal
Pocket sky atlas
Planosphere
Warm clothes ( inlcuding Pitkaalushousot)
Picnic blanket ( to put under scope to catch things)
7 x 40mm Binos
I've only been to a dark site twice, and once there was actually enough of a gap between clouds to justify getting the equipment out of the boot and setting up, though i had to break it back down as soon as I finished alignment, because of rain.

Usually bring the lot:
Celestron NexStar C102SLT
Power supplies
Webcam
Laptop
Canon 350D
Celestron 15x70s and tripod
Pocket PC with Pocketstars
Baseball bat (to deter any ne'er do wells), might upgrade to shotgun after I upgrade to the LX200R
Hot Coffee, food and plenty of mars bars.
Usually better to have something you might need with you, than let an opportunity slip by.
