Too true Dave.
Still, a clear night. I'm getting restless - the sky now is a beautiful clear winter blue, not a cloud in sight, so much could go wrong - AAAArgh
Also I've just updated my hand controller on Wednesday to ver 4.12 and re-calibrated the GOTO, I want to see is tracking and GOTO etc. any better after that.

John you got a CGE mount or CG5? I updated the motor control software in my CGE the other night to get over an issue where the mount sometimes slewed erandomly while autoguiding. I tried to update the hand controller from V4.10 but I couldn't get it to do it.

Dave,
Mines the SLT.
The GEM file is for the CGE. What kind of problems did you encounter?
Here's a link on upgrading the CGE hand controller, thogh you probably know all this already.

John,
The issue is that when I plug in the serial cable and turn on the mount the mount goes dead. It's ok with the cable unplugged. The cable is ok, I tested it and also I used to use this cable with my old CG5 with no problems. I'm not overly worried the important thing was the motor control firmware and I got that done. All the 4.12 hand control firmware does for me is offers adjustable LCD brightness.

Dave,
Sounds weird. Maybe a ground loop issue? are you powering the mount from battery or mains?
When you say it's dead, do you mean there is not even any lights on the hand controller or just no text?
